Dorset Chamber Choir announces the details of our 2026 Passiontide Concert – we will be singing “Olivet to Calvary”, music by J. H. Maunder.

 

This will be at our home venue, Broadstone United Reformed Church. We will be conducted by our Musical Director, John Watkins and our accompanist will be the good friend of the choir, Chris Dowie.

 

Olivet to Calvary is a cantata arranged by John Henry Maunder (1858 - 1920), using words written by Shapcott Wensley. It was first published in 1904 and describes the scenes of the last few days of Jesus’ life on earth, from his triumphal journey to Jerusalem to his crucifixion at Calvary. It is arranged in two parts and includes movements for choir and for tenor and baritone soloists, interspersed with hymns that reflect on the scenes.

 

The concert will be on Monday 30th March, starting at 7:30 pm, at Broadstone United Reformed Church, Higher Blandford Road, Broadstone, BH18 9AB. Tickets cost £10, free for anyone under 18. They can be ordered through our website, and are also available from choir members, or at the door (cash or card payments)
